Everything here is free to use, including commercially, with attribution. There is no embargo, no login for the data, and no need to ask. If you are checking a number before you publish, or you think one is wrong, please get in touch — a correction is more use to us than a quiet retraction is to you.

How to cite it
“energymap.app” is enough, and a link is appreciated. For a specific figure, cite the constituency page it came from and the date, because the underlying data is rebuilt weekly and revised by its publishers — for example: energymap.app, July 2026 data.
We are not the source of the underlying data and do not claim to be. Elexon, DESNZ, NESO and ONS publish it; what is ours is the constituency view, the reason join, the cleaning and the reconciliation. The method page says exactly which is which, so cite the primary source where you can.
How to check anything here
- Every project carries its planning application reference. That reference on the council's own register is the primary record — the decision notice, the officer's report and any refusal reasons. Neighbouring schemes often share a name, so the reference is the only reliable way to be sure you have the right one.
- Every seat's numbers are downloadable as JSON and CSV, including the mapping file that connects meters to sites, with a confidence grade on every row.
- The reconciliation shows our monthly volumes against NESO's own published figures. The build fails if any complete month diverges by more than 2%.
- Where the government's planning database and a council's register disagree, we drop the record rather than publish it, and say which and why in the exclusions file.
One caution worth printing. The planning database records that a decision was made and when, but never why. No page on this site states a reason for a refusal, and you should not infer one from it. That is in the council's decision notice.
